在網路上幾乎都有說iBT的門檻

例如uc berkeley 是八十三分

請問他的意思是 她看托福成績時 只看你有沒有到他的門檻(83)

之後就看SAT+SAT II跟在校成績嗎?

還是托福考的很高也有加分效果?

如果只是一個門檻

那我是不是只要託福考到我要的學校的門檻就可以開始衝SAT了?

正解.

英文要求本來就只是一個門檻. 沒過這個門檻肯定會有問題. 但過了這個門檻就OK. 之後再高也不見得有多大的加分效果. 主要還是用你其他的條件來決定錄取與否.

各位進美國大學是要和美國學生一起學習的. 一般台灣來的申請者, 就算托福再高分. 只怕英文能力也沒有Native Speaker要強. 如果說證明了有足夠的英文能力後, 英文能力更好的還要加成的效果, 那學校都收Native English Speaker 就好. 這如果真的這樣子的話, 並不合理. 也因此, 只要過了基礎的英語能力門檻. 托福更高分的加分效果實在是很有限.

well.... in a sense it is a selection factor, in another sense it is a back-up protection just in case you did not do so well on SATs. Think about this, SATs are design for NATIVE English speaker. How long have you been studying and actively using English? Not long, right? It would then be hard for you to do as well as the native speakers (not impossible, just you might have to put in daunting amount of efforts.) Yet, you can show them your decent TOEFL score as a proof that you are not crappy in English, and that's also a tool they assess your English ability with more accuracy.

Another way to think about it is to just go ahead and prepare for SAT. After all, SAT English is harder than TOEFL. If you are well-prepared for SAT, TOEFL can be picked up by doing practice tests and other stuff within a relatively short amount of time.

Oh another thing, after all, the score is the score is the score. People judge this kind of relative scale score on how well you do. So just don't think that you "only" have to be above certain score. Try to get as highest as possible.
