How long do you finish a novel that over 500 pages?

I keep readin' Harry Potter V a month for 1hour per day.

Only 200 pages finished..............

It depends on how long do you spend on reading the book...

I read "Harry Potter" three hours a day

and finished in 1.5 months...

By the way...

I prefer the Chinese version...= ='

Because of the usage of translated words is more attractive to me...

I finished One Hundred Years of Solitude ( 422 pages) in about 2 month.

I put the book at school and read it only between classes. That's approx. 3~5 hours per week.

So the total should be 30~45 hours.

Currently I'm reading Paycheck (by Phillip K. Dick), I read the same way, but this book is easier, so I've already read 250 pages within 2 or 3 weeks.

the book i read is called "Giggs", it is an autobiography of the famous footballer/ soccer player from Wales who plays for the great Manchester United, he is Ryan Giggs.

i forgot how many pages but... i timed myself before, my speed is like 560words/ 1minute

ha.. i did not read "Harry Potter!" that's amazing.. isn't it? well..i guess i am the only one in the U.S who has not read Harry Potter.. ~^ ^ ~

I usually take a week to finish an English book which has 50 pages...

500pages...

I'm not sure, but last summer I finished Harry Potter VI before the Chinese version was published.

So that would be...about a month.

And I prefer the English version,

because the information is more direct.

My mom encourage me to read those novel in English, too.

She has finished her favorate Agatha Christie's collection (a series of detective story) all in English !

This depends on the level of the language used by the book. Some books can be 1000 pages and over yet the language used is extremely trivial that it'll probably take you less than a day to go through.

Try reading one CHAPTER a day. That way, you don't break the story flow and you can get through the book faster too. Just read it before you go to sleep.

I LOATHE the Chinese version. The translations give away the story too much. For example, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was translated into Chinese as "Harry Potter and the BETRAYAL of the Half-Blood Prince." I swear, I was going to throttle the translator, whoever he or she is, when I saw that.

I read an article about the Half-Blood Prince a short while after it was published.

It said the Half-Blood Prince is actually a revised edition of the original sixth novel, which went by the name 'Harry Potter and the Tentacles of Doom'.

The Tentacles of Doom was said to contain pornographic scenes (Rowling was probably drunk when writing that part) between Ron and Hermione.

Due to the uproar it caused in England when first published, the manager recalled all copies and told Rowling to revise her sixth book, which became the Half-Blood Prince.

The Tentacles of Doom is no longer available, but I wonder what happened to the copies that were bought before the manager recalled them?

It did in England (at least in the one that I read it from).

I have no idea why it didn't reach Taiwan.

The article stated that some public readers read aloud the porno passage to audiences.

Hmmmm - I remember reading bits of that article - but stopped when I realised it was a MOCK article - as in, it wasn't REAL. It was nothing more than a bunch of people deciding to have a little *too* much fun with the whole Harry Potter mania and wrote a fake article about some porno version of Harry Potter 6. Had it been true, Rowling would have been sued by now.

Took me four days to finish it... quite interesting though.

Are we having a "who reads the fastest" competition? In that case, I read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in 2 days, on and off whilst studying for exams but really, what difference does it make? Some people are slow readers, some are fast. Take it at your own pace. No fret.

Well, Digital Fortress (and all of Dan Brown's book for that matter) was poorly written anyways. Not to mention all the (incorrect use of) technical jargons in there. If you're reading it in your second language, then yes, you may have a tough time but who cares. It's Dan Brown's book. They're all the same style. Just read Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code and you're pretty much done. They are much better literature out there than Dan Brown's creations.

P.S. Just a correction (or maybe you typed that on purpose) "dew to my" should be "due to my"
